Welcome

Discover the Heritage and Hospitality of Marion, Virginia, a picturesque village in the Mountains of Southwest Virginia. Marion is a town full of historical character and charm. Marion is famous for its outdoor recreation and is the birth place of Mountain Dew, a very popular soft drink.  It is a gateway to both Hungry Mother State Park and Mount Rogers, the highest peak in Virginia.

Marion is a community in which volunteers work together to enhance the standard of living.  The renovation of the Lincoln Theatre , a pre-depression theatre built on a Mayan theme, the River Walk, River Bend Park, the Appalachian Spirit Gallery, which has been instrumental in bringing more visitors to the downtown area, the Song of the Mountains Museum, which is scheduled to open in April, are great examples of Marionites pulling together to improve the community.  Marion is truly a community of volunteers.  A community of neighbors helping neighbors.

I look forward to your visit to our town.

Sincerely,
David Helms Mayor
