Mission Statement:

To provide fire suppression and other emergency services to the Greater Marion Community, and to develop the best trained fire service in Smyth County.

Recent Accomplishment:

In 1999, the Town completed construction of a much needed fire station on Main Street, occupying the former Rosemont property. The facility allows the fire department to house all of its rolling stock under one roof in a rapid deployment configuration. Progress has been made in strengthening internal management within the Fire Department and in emphasizing advanced training of all Firefighters. Additionally, the record keeping and after action analysis functions have been automated.

Goals:

• That all Marion Volunteer Firemen obtain a minimum of Firefighter I Certification.

• That the Marion Volunteer Fire Department serve the Marion area with the best fire suppression and fire prevention services.

• That the Department conduct fire safety programs, fire inspections, and public education programs on an ongoing basis.
