Holston Hill Community Golf Course to Re-Open May 1

On Wednesday, April 22, 2020 Marion Town Manager Bill Rush announced plans to reopen Holston Hills Community Golf Course to the public, in accordance with current CDC guidelines and following recreational directives addressed in Executive Order 55 by Governor Ralph Northam. “We took a pause in our overall operations in recreation to ensure we had appropriate measures in place,” said Rush.  “We have studied best practices of other courses, both public and private, and we are now confident the Town of Marion can manage golf operations effectively and safely”. MEMORIAL DAY COMMEMORATION CHANGES & MAY EVENTS

Due to ongoing "stay at home" restrictions and overall health concerns, the Town of Marion has made the difficult decision to cancel many of the traditional ways the community commemorates Memorial Day weekend and other community events through May. "It's honestly heartbreaking," said Marion Mayor David Helms.  "We have prided ourselves in the way this town comes together, but right now, we're having to ask our citizens to keep safe by staying at home." Golf Course Remains Closed to the Public

The Town of Marion will keep Holston Hills Golf Course closed for another week, due to widespread community transmission of COVID-19 in Smyth County and across the region. We will revisit this decision every Tuesday afternoon until the sanctions are lifted or modified, with a public announcement following each Wednesday morning. In the meantime, staff is working on ways in which we can gradually reopen the course when we can, and to phase back in to normal operations as soon as possible.
